VLC Media Player อาจถูกถอดออกจาก App Store

VLC Media Player เป็นแอปพลิเคชันที่ยอดเยี่ยมสำหรับการเล่นไฟล์มัลติมีเดียวบน iOS Devices ซึ่งตอนนี้มีให้ใช้ทั้ง iPad และ iPhone, iPod Touch ในเวลาเพียงไม่นานที่ VLC Media Player ปล่อยให้ดาวน์โหลดผ่าน App Store ปรากฎว่าถูกดาวน์โหลดไปจำนวนมากในเวลาไม่นาน จนทำให้ VLC Media Player ติดอันดับ Top Apps โดยใช้เวลาแค่ไม่กี่วัน

ล่าสุดตอนนี้เริ่มจะมีปัญหาเนื่องมาจากเดิมที่ VLC นั้นเป็นแอปพลิเคชันบนคอมพิวเตอร์ที่เปิดเป็น Opensource โดย Videolan (กลุ่มพัฒนา VLC) ได้ส่งจดหมายร้องเรียนไปหา Apple เกี่ยวกับเรื่อง Licence ของการแจกจ่ายโปรแกรม

ต้องเรียนให้ทราบก่อนว่า VLC และ VLC Media Player บน iOS นั้นเป็นคนละกลุ่มพัฒนากัน

VLC นั้นพัฒนาและแจกจ่ายโดย Videolan ซึ่งเปิดเป็น GNU General Public License (GPL) หมายถึงสามารถที่จะใช้งานได้ฟรี ติดตั้งที่เครื่องไหนๆก็ได้โดยไม่มีค่าใช้จ่ายใดๆ

ส่วน VLC Media Player นั้นพัฒนาโดย Applidium ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทพัฒนาซอฟต์แวร์ที่นำโค็ดของ VLC มาประยุกต์และพัฒนามาเป็น VLC Media Player บน iOS Devices

สิ่งที่ขัดกันคือ VLC นั้นเปิดลิขสิทธิ์ภายใต้ GPL แต่ว่า VLC Media Player นั้นเปิดลิขสิทธิ์ภายใต้ Apple จุดนี้มันก็เลยขัดๆกันอยู่ ซึ่งผลที่เกิดขึ้นคือ VLC Media Player น่าจะโดนถอดออกจาก App Store เร็วๆนี้อย่างแน่นอน เพราะว่า Apple นั้นไม่ต้องการเข้าไปยุ่งกับ GPL เท่าไหร่ยิ่งเกิดเหตุการณ์นี้แล้วน่าจะเป็นเรื่องที่เดากันออกได้ง่ายมากๆ

ฉะนั้นหากใครที่ยังไม่ได้ดาวน์โหลด VLC Media Player สำหรับ iPhone, iPad ก็ให้รีบๆไปโหลดมาเก็บเอาไว้นะก่อนที่จะไม่มีให้ดาวน์โหลด

  3. This study is useless as most people know very little of music, including many intelligent high scoring SAT kids. Much of our musical preference is based on the people we are surrounded with and other social forces. Even so I’m sure that makes this study acceptable for most people. I personally believe that music tells very little about intelligence, and rather that it reveals more about personal background. Our culture is not raised to view music on an individualistic level. So called “dumb” kids are listening to Lil’ Wayne because it is on MTV and their friends listen to it in the car. So called “smart” kids listen to Beethoven because their parents had them take two years of piano lessons and told that that listening to “socially acceptable, historically correct” music will make them get better grades and feel better about themselves. Unfortunately for the dumb kids, the smart parents made the better decision.
